DevOps Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA | 3-4 days onsite per week
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a team focused on improving automation, tooling, and engineering efficiency within a large-scale video and broadband technology environment. This is not a cloud DevOps role - the emphasis is on scripting, tooling, and process improvement, not managing cloud infrastructure.
The Role
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll split your time between two core areas:
- Support & Issue Tracking (30%) - Manage Jira tickets, troubleshoot bugs, and provide responsive support to engineering teams.
- Tooling & Automation (70%) - Build scripts and tools to optimize workflows, streamline repetitive tasks, and improve operational processes across the engineering organization.
You’ll work closely with product and engineering teams, helping ensure smooth development and deployment cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Jira tickets and provide timely support for engineering teams.
- Troubleshoot bugs and resolve day-to-day technical issues.
- Develop automation scripts and tooling to improve engineering workflows.
- Write and maintain scripts in Bash and Python.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies and deliver scalable solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, pipelines, and engineering operations.
What You’ll Need
- Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python.
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices, focused on tooling and process automation (not cloud).
- Experience managing issues via Jira or similar ticketing systems.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve inefficiencies through automation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with RDK (Reference Design Kit) or broadband/video engineering environments.
- Experience in large-scale, matrixed engineering teams.
- Exposure to CI/CD tooling or build/release pipelines.
