About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Adobe Commerce (Magento) Architect to take charge of the technical direction, code quality, and performance optimization for a large-scale Adobe Commerce platform. In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance solutions while ensuring the platform aligns with Adobe Commerce best practices. You will work closely with DevOps, frontend, and AWS teams, but ultimately will be the primary authority for all Adobe Commerce application-layer decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adobe Commerce Architecture:
- Own end-to-end architecture of Adobe Commerce (2.4.x+).
- Refactor legacy modules to comply with Adobe standards (DI, ORM, Service Contracts).
- Rationalize and optimize third-party extensions (~180 modules) to reduce conflicts and technical debt.
- Implement best practices for caching (Redis, Varnish) and indexing strategies.
- Oversee version upgrades, patch installations, and Quality Patches Tool (QPT) updates.
- Performance & Code Optimization:
- Identify and resolve backend performance bottlenecks using New Relic, APM tools, and code profiling.
- Optimize cron schedules, catalog indexing, and database queries to improve backend responsiveness.
- Collaborate with DevOps for infrastructure-aware tuning (e.g., build/deploy optimization, cache warm-up).
- Code Quality & Security:
- Enforce Adobe Commerce coding guidelines, PSR-12 standards, and best practices.
- Implement error handling, input validation, and security mechanisms to mitigate XSS and SQL injection risks.
- Lead internal code reviews and ensure consistent technical documentation.
- Governance & Collaboration:
- Serve as the technical authority for Adobe Commerce within the engineering team.
- Collaborate with frontend, AWS, and QA teams for cross-functional performance.
- Mentor developers on best practices for modular design and upgrade-safe customization.
- Participate in sprint planning, estimations, and architectural reviews.
Technical Skills Required:
- Expertise in Adobe Commerce (Magento 2.4.x), PHP 8+, MySQL, EAV model, and Service Contracts.
- Proficiency in Redis, Varnish, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Adobe Commerce Cloud, and Composer.
- Familiarity with performance tools like New Relic, Blackfire, Magento Profiler.
- Experience in version control (Git) and branching strategies.
- Strong background in secure coding and dependency management.
Key Attributes:
- Deep understanding of Adobe Commerce internals including modules, plugins, DI, ORM.
- Ability to read, review, and refactor complex legacy Magento code.
- Proven track record in large-scale multi-store or multi-region Adobe Commerce setups.
- Strong documentation skills and mentorship abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Adobe Certified Master – Adobe Commerce Architect (or Developer Plus).
- Experience with Adobe Cloud CI/CD pipelines and upgrading from Magento 2.3.x to 2.4.x.
- Familiarity with ERP/CRM integrations with Adobe Commerce.

- Refactored and stable Adobe Commerce codebase with improved dependency injection and minimal raw SQL usage.
