DevOps Engineer required for a forward-thinking technology company based in Houston, TX. This role is a unique blend of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Platform Engineering, focusing on advancing a state-of-the-art AI-driven Space Operations platform.
The role
As a DevOps Engineer, you will be a guardian of the company's infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing and administering the AWS cloud environment using Terraform and best practices, as well as maintaining multiple EKS clusters with ArgoCD and Helm. Your expertise will be crucial in leading efforts in logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system reliability. You will also own and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines, collaborate closely with developers, and contribute to greenfield initiatives. Additionally, you will be involved in building and delivering on-premises versions of products for government customers.
Your Background & Experience
We are looking for a professional with 2-4 years of experience as a Site Reliability, Platform, or Cloud Engineer. You must possess a strong understanding of security best practices. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Engineering is preferred, but equivalent professional experience is also highly valued.
Technical Skills
- Cloud infrastructure, specifically with AWS, where a certification would be a significant advantage.
- Infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Containerization is essential, with a proven track record of running and scaling applications with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Scripting and automation with Python and Bash, a
- PostgreSQL databases.
- GitOps workflows
- Packaging applications with Helm. Y
- Observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki to monitor system performance.
Additional Requirements
Due to the nature of the work, you must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card) holder. A solid understanding of government security and compliance frameworks and the ability to apply DevSecOps best practices are also critical for this role.
