Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership and strategic guidance in the design, implementation, and management of cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in cloud architecture, automation, and platform engineering, with a proven ability to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions in complex enterprise environments.
This position requires a hands-on leader who excels in collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving the successful integration of cloud technologies across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, deployment, and management of cloud-based solutions, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) initiatives utilizing Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Oversee the entire cloud platform lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, documentation, and operational support.
- Develop and implement best practices to optimize performance, cost efficiency, and security in cloud environments.
- Collaborate with software development teams to integrate cloud services into CI/CD pipelines, leveraging containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of cloud environments using industry-standard monitoring and logging tools.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to cloud engineering teams.
- Promote an automation-first culture to streamline provisioning, deployment, configuration management, and monitoring.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging cloud technologies to enhance platform capabilities and drive innovation.
- Lead incident response and troubleshooting activities related to cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and resilience.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand business requirements and present technical solutions in a clear and professional manner.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 9 years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure design, engineering, and management.
- Expertise in major cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proven experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Advanced understanding of microservices architecture, secure software development practices, and CI/CD processes.
- Strong proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as ELK stack, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Strong scripting capabilities in Python, Go, or Bash.
- Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS or Azure).
- Expertise with Terraform and multi-cloud management.
- Experience in designing and implementing Zero Trust architectures.
