Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to play a key role in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform. This position focuses on leveraging automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and advanced cloud engineering practices to support a growing AI-driven ecosystem and enterprise-scale operations.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical advisor and hands-on engineer, collaborating with business and technology teams to ensure efficient, compliant, and reliable cloud solutions that drive innovation and operational excellence.
The Opportunity
As part of the Cloud Platform team, the Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for optimizing cloud environments, implementing automation for deployment and monitoring, and supporting business stakeholders in their adoption of cloud and AI technologies. This role involves collaborating closely with infrastructure engineering, DevOps, and application teams to ensure deployments are secure, compliant, and aligned with corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Azure-based infrastructure to support AI workloads and enterprise applications.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements, translating them into effective cloud solutions.
- Drive automation initiatives using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) to deploy and manage resources efficiently across multiple environments.
- Enhance and optimize CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment consistency, reliability, and speed.
- Implement and manage security controls, ensuring compliance with audit and governance requirements across all deployments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to Azure infrastructure, applications, and services.
- Collaborate with architects, DevOps teams, and engineers to align solutions with cloud best practices and security standards.
- Support 24/7 operational readiness through participation in on-call rotations and scheduled maintenance.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, recommending tools and methodologies to improve performance and scalability.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of cloud practices and processes.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience managing infrastructure and deployments within IT operations, including automation and pipeline-based provisioning.
- 5+ years working with Microsoft Azure, including experience deploying and maintaining infrastructure through IaC tools such as Terraform.
- Strong background in building and managing cloud-native IaaS and PaaS services, including Virtual Machines, App Services, Azure SQL, Azure Functions, and Data Factory.
- Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipeline development using YAML.
- Proficiency with Azure CLI, scripting (PowerShell, Python), and automation workflows.
- Working knowledge of Azure AI and related frameworks or platforms.
- Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), containers, and orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with identity management, network security, encryption, and compliance standards in cloud environments.
- Experience supporting both Linux and Windows systems within cloud and hybrid environments.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, LAN/WAN, IAM, and firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with collaboration and workflow tools such as Jira, Confluence, or ServiceNow.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (advanced degree preferred).
