About the Role:
We are building large-scale, mission-critical software systems that run in on-premise and hybrid environments with strict reliability, security, and availability requirements. We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer to own deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, system reliability, and secure operations across distributed installations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to infrastructure, understands real-world networking constraints, and can build repeatable, production-grade deployment pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain on-prem and hybrid infrastructure using virtualization and containerization
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for backend services and containerized workloads
- Automate application packaging, versioning, upgrades, and rollbacks
- Implement secure networking practices (segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, access control)
- Manage container runtimes and service orchestration (Docker; Kubernetes exposure a plus)
- Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure system reliability
- Support controlled remote operations such as updates, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Write clear deployment runbooks and operational documentation
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements to ensure high availability and performance.
- Automate operational tasks and develop infrastructure as code to streamline deployment processes.
- Work with development teams to design and build reliable systems that meet defense requirements.
- Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive defense data.
- Conduct root cause analysis of system failures and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4-8 years of experience in site reliability engineering or DevOps.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Desirable understanding of security principles and best practices in a defense context.
- Strong Linux fundamentals (Ubuntu/RHEL)
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployments
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, VPNs)
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki, etc.)
- Scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.)
Nice to Have:
- Experience with virtualization platforms (KVM/Proxmox/VMware)
- Exposure to Kubernetes in production environments
- Experience supporting distributed or offline-first systems
- Familiarity with security hardening and operational best practices
- Experience working with high-availability or regulated environments
