AWS Engineer

Position Overview
Contech Systems is seeking a hands‐on AWS Engineer to support Client's cloud engineering, platform modernization, and infrastructure automation initiatives. This engineer will build, optimize, and support AWS environments that power mission‐critical healthcare applications. The role works closely with cloud architects, DevOps engineers, security teams, and application delivery groups to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities
AWS Engineering & Implementation
- Build, configure, and support AWS infrastructure components including EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, EKS/ECS, VPCs, and IAM.
- Implement and maintain multi‐account landing zones, network configurations, and security controls.
- Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes (EKS), ECS, and Fargate.
- Support application teams in migrating workloads to AWS using best‐practice patterns.
Infrastructure‐as‐Code & Automation
- Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment workflows.
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Implement automated monitoring, alerting, and logging using CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, or enterprise tools.
Security, Compliance & Reliability
- Implement and enforce AWS security best practices aligned with HIPAA and PHI requirements.
- Support guardrails, SCPs, IAM policies, encryption standards, and compliance automation.
- Troubleshoot performance, networking, and security issues across cloud environments.
- Participate in incident response, root‐cause analysis, and remediation activities.
Collaboration & Operational Support
- Work closely with cloud architects to translate designs into operational solutions.
- Partner with application teams to support deployments, migrations, and environment builds.
- Maintain documentation for infrastructure, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands‐on experience engineering AWS infrastructure in enterprise environments.
- Strong experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
- Solid understanding of VPC design, routing, load balancing, and network security.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automating deployments.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
- Experience working in regulated environments (healthcare preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, networking, and security layers.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Solutions Architect - Associate or SysOps/DevOps certifications.
- Experience with OpenShift (OCP), Kafka, or event‐driven architectures.
- Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare data standards.
- Experience with hybrid cloud or on‐prem to cloud migration patterns.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust, identity federation, and enterprise SSO.
