The Engineering Manager is a people-first technical leader responsible for building, scaling, and sustaining high-performing engineering teams while ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, outcome-driven solutions. This role serves as a critical bridge between engineering execution and organizational strategy, balancing people management, technical oversight, and stakeholder alignment. The Engineering Manager is also expected to live and exemplify the organization’s evergreen leadership principles and values, acting as an ambassador of the engineering brand both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
People, Performance & Talent Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage software, data, and platform engineers across multiple initiatives.
- Own performance management processes, including goal setting, regular feedback, performance reviews, and career development planning.
- Manage team rosters, capacity planning, leave approvals, and resource allocation to ensure optimal productivity and team well-being.
- Build and maintain strong bench strength through proactive talent management, succession planning, and skill development.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and psychologically safe team environment aligned with organizational values.
Hiring & Employer Brand Representation
- Lead and actively participate in technical interviews, candidate evaluations, and final hiring decisions (“lock-in” candidates).
- Act as a brand ambassador, representing engineering excellence and culture to attract top-tier talent.
- Partner with HR and leadership to continuously improve hiring practices and candidate experience.
Technical Delivery & Engineering Excellence
- Provide technical direction and architectural guidance across projects and platforms.
- Ensure adherence to sound engineering practices, design principles, and quality standards.
- Review and oversee system designs, code quality, and technical decision-making without micromanaging execution.
- Enable teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned with business outcomes.
Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as a primary point of contact for engineering delivery with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Communicate project status, dependencies, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly and proactively.
- Translate business objectives into executable engineering plans and measurable outcomes.
Process, Governance & Best Practices
- Define, implement, and enforce coding standards, engineering guidelines, and documentation practices.
- Champion Agile, Scrum, and DevOps best practices, including CI/CD automation and operational excellence.
- Drive continuous improvement across delivery processes, team efficiency, and engineering maturity.
Innovation, Strategy & Practice Growth
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, including GenAI, cloud-native architectures, and modern data platforms.
- Encourage innovation and experimentation while balancing risk and delivery commitments.
- Contribute to long-term engineering strategy, platform roadmaps, and practice-level capability growth.

Core Skills & Requirements
Technical Proficiency
- Strong hands-on or architectural experience in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, C#).
- Experience with modern frameworks, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Solid understanding of DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and operational resilience.
Engineering & Delivery Methodologies
- Deep expertise in Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience delivering complex, outcome-focused solutions in fast-paced environments.
