This position supports a federal cloud operations program in the Hanscom AFB area and requires candidates who can operate in a hybrid environment with periodic on-site access to secure systems.
Position Overview
Elevate Technology Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer SME to support cloud operations and enterprise infrastructure engineering for a federal program in the Boston / Hanscom AFB area.
This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and sustainability of cloud-based networks and distributed systems, supporting complex mission environments. The Systems Engineer will perform systems integration, verification and validation, and engineering analysis across distributed cloud infrastructure while helping drive improvements in system reliability and operational performance.
The ideal candidate is a senior-level engineer with deep cloud and systems expertise, capable of solving complex technical challenges and providing innovative engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the stability, reliability, and scalability of cloud-based networks and distributed software systems
- Perform system integration, verification, validation, and supportability analysis across enterprise cloud infrastructure
- Develop proactive engineering solutions to monitor and maintain the health of distributed virtual machine environments
- Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, and engineering trade studies for system architecture decisions
- Support requirements allocation and interface definition for hardware and software systems
- Analyze operational trends and performance metrics to identify opportunities for system improvements
- Resolve system functionality, performance, and configuration issues across cloud environments
- Support engineering frameworks, tools, and operational processes that improve system reliability and operational efficiency
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise on complex engineering challenges
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- 12+ years of experience in systems engineering, cloud engineering, or related technical disciplines
- Experience supporting cloud-based infrastructure and distributed systems environments
- Ability to perform system integration, verification, validation, and engineering analysis
- Strong understanding of systems performance monitoring, configuration management, and infrastructure reliability
Certifications
- DoD IAT Level II certification required (Security+, CySA+, CCNA-Security, or equivalent)
- Two or more cloud certifications required (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD cloud or federal enterprise systems
- Experience working in hybrid or distributed cloud environments
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring frameworks and operational metrics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to design innovative engineering solutions for complex technical challenges
