Role Overview
We are seeking an Offshore DBA / DevOps Consultant to support AWS account transfer and infrastructure automation activities. This is a hybrid role combining DevOps engineering with database awareness, primarily focused on automation, infrastructure validation, monitoring setup, and transfer execution support.
Database-related tasks are limited to collaborative support with the customer application team, who remain responsible for encryption, performance, data integrity, and security of their databases.
This role is designed to maximize value across the engagement by supporting DevOps automation (~90%) and database validation activities (~10%).
Key Responsibilities
DevOps / Infrastructure Automation (Primary – ~90%)
Develop and maintain automation scripts for validation and transfer execution using AWS CLI, SDKs, Python, and Bash.
Support infrastructure automation using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Build and configure monitoring and alerting frameworks for transferred AWS accounts.
Develop infrastructure validation scripts covering network connectivity, IAM access, and AWS service endpoints.
Support the development and refinement of operational runbooks across migration workstreams.
Assist in CI/CD pipeline validation and reconfiguration following account transfers.
Contribute to documentation, transfer tracking, and operational reporting.
Database Support (Secondary – ~10%)
Assist the customer application team with database inventory and discovery across CareLink accounts.
Collaborate with application teams to identify AWS KMS key policies and detect cross-account dependencies.
Support RDS connectivity validation post-transfer, including endpoint validation, security groups, and DNS resolution.
Help verify database accessibility and operational readiness after account transfers.
Identify and escalate database-related risks to the AWS Technical Lead and customer application team.
Document database observations, dependencies, and transfer considerations.
Required Skills
Strong experience with AWS CLI, SDK (boto3), Python, and Bash scripting.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
Working knowledge of AWS RDS (Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL) for connectivity validation and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with AWS KMS key management, including key policies and cross-account access patterns.
Experience with DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.
Ability to configure monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
Experience in runbook development and validation procedures.
Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with AWS account migrations or landing zone implementations.
Knowledge of cloud security and IAM best practices.
Familiarity with database migration or validation activities.
Experience working in large enterprise cloud transformation programs.
