Role Overview
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with a strong understanding of the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) landscape and AWS to design, operate, and continually improve the infrastructure and deployment pipelines that power the mymediset platform. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating across both SAP BTP (Cloud Foundry, Kyma, HANA Cloud, Destination/Connectivity/XSUAA services) and AWS (compute, networking, storage, security, observability), and can bridge the two environments with secure, reliable, and cost-efficient architectures.
You should bring a platform engineering mindset - treating infrastructure as code, automating everything that can be automated, and building self-service capabilities that allow product teams to ship safely and quickly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
- Design, provision, and operate infrastructure across SAP BTP (Cloud Foundry, Kyma, HANA Cloud, SAP Build, Destination, Connectivity, XSUAA, Alert Notification) and AWS (VPC, EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudFront, Route53).
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications to SAP BTP and AWS, with automated testing, security scanning, approvals, and safe rollout strategies (blue/green, canary, feature flags).
- Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, MTA (Multi-Target Application), or SAP BTP Terraform Provider.
- Manage hybrid connectivity between SAP BTP and AWS, including Cloud Connector, principal propagation, private endpoints, VPNs/Direct Connect, and secure service-to-service communication.
- Implement robust observability — centralised logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting — across SAP BTP and AWS workloads, using tools such as CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or Grafana/Prometheus.
- Own the error monitoring and application performance monitoring (APM) stack using Sentry — set up and maintain projects, environments, and releases; instrument frontend, backend, and mobile workloads; configure alerts, issue triage workflows, source maps, and release health tracking; and integrate Sentry with CI/CD and incident management to shorten MTTD and MTTR.
- Own the security posture of the cloud environments — IAM and role design, secrets management, patching, network segmentation, compliance controls, and vulnerability response.
- Drive reliability engineering practices — SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident response, blameless postmortems, and continuous resilience improvements.
- Optimise cloud spend across BTP and AWS through right-sizing, reserved capacity, lifecycle policies, and regular cost reviews.
- Automate routine operational tasks and build internal tooling to empower product and engineering teams to self-serve common infrastructure needs.
- Partner with engineering leadership on capacity planning, disaster recovery, business continuity, and major platform upgrades and migrations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for production systems and lead incident triage and resolution when required.
