Role Overview
A government technology contractor is seeking an AWS Systems Engineer to join a cloud infrastructure team supporting a next-generation analytics and data dissemination platform.
The role focuses on building and managing Windows-based systems within AWS cloud environments, supporting both development and operational deployments. You will work closely with engineering teams and program leadership to deliver secure, scalable cloud infrastructure used in mission-critical environments.
This role is ideal for engineers experienced with Windows Server, AWS infrastructure, and secure cloud deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineering
- Deploy and maintain Windows Server instances within AWS environments
- Support system architecture and infrastructure design for cloud-based platforms
- Manage multiple environments including development, testing, and production
Deployment & System Administration
- Deploy and maintain custom, COTS, and GOTS software solutions
- Build and configure Windows systems in AWS
- Perform patching, maintenance, and upgrades across cloud environments
DevOps & System Delivery
- Support system deployments and integration with development pipelines
- Work with engineering teams to deliver web-based and remote desktop production systems
- Assist with system automation, CI/CD pipelines, and environment management
Troubleshooting & Operations
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and application issues
- Monitor and maintain system availability and performance
- Support operational environments delivering mission-critical analytics and data dissemination
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, architects, and program leadership
- Support Agile development teams and modern development workflows
Required Qualifications
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain CI Polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience
- (Additional experience may substitute for degree)
- DoD 8570 compliance
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
- Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop systems
- Knowledge of system architecture, networking, and infrastructure design
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Strong communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with AWS cloud services including:
- EC2
- Lambda
- S3
- PaaS platforms such as OpenShift
- Experience with GIS technologies, particularly:
- ESRI ArcGIS
- WMS / WFS
- KML
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline development and automation
- Experience producing and maintaining architecture diagrams
- Experience with collaboration tools such as:
- Jira
- Confluence
- RocketChat
- Microsoft or AWS certifications
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will:
- Have hands-on experience provisioning Windows Server environments in AWS
- Understand cloud infrastructure architecture and system administration
- Be comfortable supporting secure government systems
- Have strong troubleshooting and deployment experience
- Be willing to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph clearance
