DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer (Contract | Hybrid in Rockville, MD OR Tysons Corner, VA)
Optomi, in partnership with a leading financial services firm, is seeking a DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer to join their platform engineering team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines for a generative AI platform, supporting a microservice-based architecture across development, staging, and production environments. This role sits at the intersection of cloud engineering and DevOps automation, requiring deep knowledge of AWS infrastructure alongside hands-on proficiency with container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
Experience of the right candidate:
- Strong background in AWS cloud architecture and infrastructure engineering (ECS, ECR, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch).
- Experience managing containerized workloads and microservice architectures using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on proficiency with CI/CD pipeline development using Harness, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience implementing blue-green and canary deployment strategies with a focus on zero-downtime releases.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tooling, particularly Terraform and Ansible.
- Familiarity with financial security standards and regulated financial environments is a strong plus.
- Experience supporting AI or ML platform workloads is a strong plus.
Responsibilities of the right candidate:
- Provision and manage AWS cloud environments across development, staging, and production tiers.
- Deploy and operate containerized services within a microservice architecture using ECS and supporting AWS services.
- Maintain and extend CI/CD pipelines using shared library patterns for service builds, testing, and deployment.
- Implement infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and scaling strategies for AI workloads and supporting services, ensuring platform reliability through capacity planning, performance testing, and incident response.
- Ensure CI/CD pipelines enforce quality gates including linting, security scanning, and test execution before deployment.
