Position Purpose
We are looking for a senior‑level DevOps professional who will own the design, automation, and operation of our container‑native (OpenShift) and virtualized infrastructure that supports critical banking applications. The ideal candidate has 8‑10 years of hands‑on experience with OpenShift, enterprise virtualization, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC), strong Python and Terraform skills, and a proven track‑record of delivering secure, high‑throughput solutions for financial institutions.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate production‑grade Red Hat OpenShift clusters (multi‑AZ, hybrid‑cloud, edge) that meet banking‑grade SLAs for availability, latency, and security.
- Architect, provision, and maintain virtualised compute, storage, and network layers (VMware vSphere, KVM, Hyper‑V or equivalents) hosting OpenShift and legacy workloads.
- Automate the full lifecycle of infrastructure and applications using Terraform, Python (3.x), and configuration‑management tools such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines (GitOps – Argo CD, Tekton, Jenkins, GitLab CI) for containerised banking services, enabling zero‑downtime releases and roll‑backs.
- Embed security & compliance (PCI DSS, ISO 27001, RBI/CBI) through policy‑as‑code, RBAC, network segmentation, secret management, and automated vulnerability scanning.
- Monitor, observe, and troubleshoot performance (Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, Elastic, Jaeger) across OpenShift, VMs, and underlying hardware; lead RCA and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Additional Contributions
- Collaborate with application and security teams to containerise monolithic banking apps, optimise resource requests/limits, and enforce DevSecOps best practices.
- Drive GitOps and IaC standards across the organisation; create reusable Terraform modules, Python libraries, and Operator patterns for repeatable deployments.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion a culture of automation, observability, and reliability.
- Keep abreast of emerging OpenShift features, virtualization trends, and AIOps tools that can add value to the bank’s digital transformation.
Technical & Behavioural Competencies
Technical SkillsLevel
- OpenShift (installation, upgrades, operators, service‑mesh, GitOps)
- Virtualisation (VMware vSphere, KVM, Hyper‑V, vCenter, NSX, storage)
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, Python)
- CI/CD & GitOps (Argo CD, Tekton, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Helm, Operators)
- Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki/Elastic, Jaeger/Zipkin)
Specific Qualifications
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Specialist – OpenShift Administration.
- VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP‑DCV).
- Additional certifications (OpenShift, VMware, Terraform, AWS/Azure, etc.) are a strong advantage.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
