Role Description This is a Managed Services contractual , on-site role for a government of India Client , for an Email Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer (Linux), specializing in messaging platforms. The engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable email and messaging infrastructure on Linux-based systems, including MTA configuration, routing, and delivery optimization. Daily responsibilities include administering and hardening Linux servers, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting mail flow issues, and ensuring high availability and reliability of messaging services. The role will involve implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, supporting CI pipelines for configuration and deployment, and collaborating with software developers and operations teams to automate workflows. The engineer will also manage security controls, logging, and compliance for messaging platforms, document standards and procedures, and provide operational support for production environments.
Qualifications
- Strong Linux and System Administration skills, including configuration, hardening, monitoring, and troubleshooting of production servers.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, or similar) to provision and manage infrastructure.
- Exposure to Software Development concepts and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate operational tasks and integrate with messaging systems.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) for automated build, test, and deployment of infrastructure changes.
- Proven experience with email and messaging platforms (e.g., Postfix, Exim, Dovecot, SMTP, IMAP, anti-spam/anti-virus filters), including performance tuning and deliverability best practices.
- Understanding of networking and security fundamentals (DNS, TLS, firewalls, VPN, DMARC/DKIM/SPF) relevant to mail infrastructure.
- Ability to document architectures, procedures, and incident reports clearly, and to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
