Overview
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer II to join a highly technical operations team responsible for supporting a next-generation virtualized network platform. This team plays a critical role in platform deployment, software installation, network operations, automation, incident response, and system reliability across a large-scale distributed infrastructure.
This position is ideal for an engineer with strong Linux administration, networking fundamentals, and Kubernetes experience who enjoys troubleshooting complex production environments and driving operational excellence through automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support deployment, configuration, and operational maintenance of virtualized network platforms and infrastructure.
- Perform software installation, system administration, and network maintenance activities.
- Execute system upgrades, hardware replacements, and change management initiatives.
- Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Monitor platform performance and identify service-impacting trends.
- Partner with engineering and development teams to implement long-term reliability improvements.
- Troubleshoot complex network, server, and application issues in a production environment.
- Support incident mitigation activities and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Project Management, and engineering teams to operationalize new products and services.
- Assist with hardware installation, replacement, and lifecycle management.
- Contribute to process improvements and operational best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience supporting production operations within a 24x7 environment.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting experience.
- Strong networking fundamentals with hands-on experience troubleshooting and configuring enterprise networking environments.
- Experience working with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or similar networking technologies.
- Experience developing automation and scripting solutions using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
- Experience troubleshooting server hardware and software issues.
- Ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
- Experience with Jenkins, Ansible, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent networking certifications.
- Experience building, deploying, and replacing server hardware.
- Familiarity with IT service management and operational monitoring practices.
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, telecommunications, networking, cloud, or platform operations environments.
- Exposure to virtualization and cloud-native technologies.
