AWS Cloud Architect

Overview
We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Architect to join our team supporting a strategic engagement. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Houston, TX, requiring attendance in the office five days a week. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AWS cloud architecture, containerized deployments, Kubernetes orchestration, and modern data ingestion frameworks.
Candidates with prior experience in the Oil & Gas industry will be highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-effective cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Architect and optimize cloud-native applications using AWS services, Kubernetes, and container technologies.
- Build and manage AWS-based data ingestion pipelines to support enterprise-scale analytics and AI/ML workloads.
- Design and deploy modern search and vector-based architectures utilizing Amazon OpenSearch, Bedrock Embeddings, and S3 Vector Storage solutions.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
- Define, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable automated application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
- Collaborate with application development, data engineering, and security teams to ensure best practices for cloud adoption.
- Design networking architectures, security controls, and governance frameworks within AWS environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure, deployment, and performance-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security, reliability, and operational standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Mandatory Skills
- AWS Certification (Solutions Architect Associate/Professional or equivalent)
- Strong expertise in AWS core services and cloud-native architecture
- Deep understanding of AWS networking, security, and serverless architectures
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms
- Experience with containerized application deployments and microservices architectures
- Strong experience building AWS data ingestion pipelines
- Expertise with:
- Amazon OpenSearch
- Amazon Bedrock Embeddings
- Amazon S3 Vector Storage
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of DevOps and cloud automation best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the Oil & Gas industry
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise cloud transformation initiatives
- Knowledge of AI/ML infrastructure and vector search architectures
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools in AWS environments
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of overall IT experience with significant focus on AWS cloud architecture and enterprise cloud solutions.
- Proven experience designing and implementing scalable cloud infrastructure in production environments.
