The Senior Systems, Azure & Microsoft 365 Engineer is responsible for the design, administration, security, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's hybrid infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, server environments, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), networking, and cybersecurity systems. This role serves as the primary technical resource for cloud services, enterprise infrastructure, disaster recovery, security remediation, and technology modernization initiatives while ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all systems.

Position Summary
The Senior Systems, Azure & Microsoft 365 Administrator is responsible for the administration, security, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's hybrid infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, server environments, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), networking, and cybersecurity systems. This role serves as the primary technical resource for cloud services, enterprise infrastructure, disaster recovery, security remediation, and technology modernization initiatives while ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all systems.
Key Responsibilities
Azure & Cloud Infrastructure Administration
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, virtual networks, storage accounts, Azure Backup, Azure Monitor, and security services.
- Manage Azure Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID), identity management, conditional access policies, multifactor authentication (MFA), and role-based access controls (RBAC).
- Monitor Azure resource utilization, performance, and availability.
- Conditional Access and O365 Security policy
- Identify and implement cloud cost optimization strategies while maintaining security and operational effectiveness.
- Design, architect, configure, and deploy new Azure services and cloud-based solutions.
- Maintain and support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or other virtual desktop environments.
Microsoft 365 Administration
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services across the organization, including:
- Exchange Online
- SharePoint Online
- OneDrive for Business
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft Intune
- Microsoft Entra ID
- Configure and maintain email security, spam filtering, anti-phishing protections, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies.
- Manage Microsoft 365 licensing, subscriptions, and user provisioning.
- Monitor service health and implement best practices for security and compliance.
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
- Maintain and administer enterprise server environments, operating systems, applications, and virtual infrastructure.
- Manage physical and virtual servers, storage systems, and related infrastructure components.
- Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure solutions to support business operations.
- Deploy, maintain, and update third-party applications used throughout the organization.
- Ensure servers, workstations, firewalls, and infrastructure components remain current with supported firmware and software releases.
Network Administration & Security
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, VPNs, and network infrastructure.
- Using Crowdstrike
- Monitor network performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and scalability.
- Implement and maintain network security controls to protect organizational assets.
- Review and maintain firewall policies, security rules, and access controls.
- Collaborate with managed service providers and technology vendors to resolve infrastructure and security issues.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Monitor cybersecurity vulnerabilities, Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), and security advisories affecting the organization's environment.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement security patches, remediation efforts, and system hardening initiatives.
- Administer endpoint protection, Microsoft Defender security solutions, and vulnerability management tools.
- Recommend and implement improvements to strengthen infrastructure security and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in security audits, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives.
Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity
- Manage backup and recovery solutions for cloud and on-premises environments.
- Using RUBRIK
- Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
- Ensure successful completion of backup jobs and periodic restoration testing.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure, network, cloud, and application issues.
- Provide advanced technical support and escalation assistance for enterprise systems.
- Coordinate hardware replacement and vendor support activities as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience administering enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
