JOB DESCRIPTION
Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)
Must-Have
- Strong experience in DevOps / platform engineering supporting software delivery teams in an enterprise environment.
- Hands-on experience with Git-based source control, branching strategies, pull request workflows, code review practices, and release governance.
- Experience in designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins, or similar.
- Good understanding of build, test, packaging, deployment, artifact management, and release automation.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise and/or Azure DevOps, including repository management, pipeline configuration, access control, service connections/secrets, and environment setup.
- Experience with workflow/pipeline templates, reusable workflows, YAML-based configuration, and automation standards.
- Working knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including secrets management, least privilege access, secure SDLC, auditability, and compliance controls.
- Experience in scripting/automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Azure/AWS/GCP.
- Good troubleshooting skills for pipeline failures, repository access issues, deployment failures, runner/agent issues, and environment-related problems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with application teams, development teams, QA, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders.
Good-to-Have
- Experience with GitHub Enterprise administration, including organization/repository settings, branch protection, rulesets, required checks, environments, secrets/variables, and governance.
- Experience in Azure DevOps to GitHub migration or other source control/CI-CD migration activities.
- Exposure to GitHub Actions reusable workflows, composite actions, GitHub CLI/API automation, and workflow standardization.
- Knowledge of self-hosted runners/agents, runner scaling, patching, networking, secrets handling, and reliability.
- Exposure to GitHub Advanced Security, CodeQL, secret scanning, dependency review, or other SAST/DAST tools.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, containerized deployments, and cloud-native delivery models.
- Experience integrating CI/CD with ServiceNow, change management, approval workflows, or audit evidence collection.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar.
- Experience in creating runbooks, playbooks, technical documentation, templates, and enablement materials.
- Cloud/security/platform certifications will be an added advantage.
Responsibility / Expectations
1 Design, configure, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines across multiple applications and technology stacks.
2 Support repository management, branching strategy, pull request workflow, release governance, and version control best practices.
3 Build and maintain pipeline templates, reusable workflows, automation scripts, and standard DevOps patterns for project teams.
4 Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build failures, deployment failures, permissions, secrets, agents/runners, environments, and integrations.
5 Implement and promote DevSecOps practices, including secure pipeline configuration, secrets management, access controls, auditability, and compliance requirements.
6 Collaborate with development, QA, security, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams for successful delivery and operational support.
7 Support migration, modernization, and standardization initiatives related to source control, CI/CD, DevOps platforms, or release automation.
8 Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, best practices, how-to guides, and knowledge transition materials.
9 Monitor adoption, issues, and delivery outcomes; recommend improvements to improve pipeline reliability, developer productivity, and operational efficiency.
10 Work across different projects/domains as per business demand and demonstrate flexibility for common pool deployment.
