DevOps Architect

About the Role
An opportunity is available for an experienced DevOps Architect to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of cloud infrastructure, DevOps strategy, and platform engineering practices. This role is responsible for defining cloud architecture standards, driving CI/CD excellence, and building scalable, secure, and highly available platforms supporting web, mobile, SaaS, and cloud-based applications.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and technology teams to establish DevOps best practices, improve deployment efficiency, and enhance platform reliability across multiple products.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Platform Engineering
- Define and own the DevOps and cloud architecture roadmap aligned with business objectives.
- Design secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure, primarily within Microsoft Azure (AWS or GCP experience is advantageous).
- Develop platform engineering standards that improve scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Create reference architectures and establish cloud governance best practices.
CI/CD & Infrastructure Automation
- Architect and optimise end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar technologies.
- Champion GitOps methodologies and deployment automation.
- Establish Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards using Terraform.
- Improve release management processes and deployment reliability.
Kubernetes & Container Platforms
- Design and govern Kubernetes environments with a focus on networking, security, scalability, and multi-tenancy.
- Manage containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Implement platform standards for resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
DevSecOps & Security
- Embed DevSecOps practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
- Implement automated security testing including SAST, DAST, Software Composition Analysis (SCA), container vulnerability scanning, and secrets management.
- Ensure cloud environments meet security, compliance, and governance standards.
Monitoring & Observability
- Define observability strategies using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or Azure Monitor.
- Establish Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets.
- Drive continuous improvements in system reliability and incident response processes.
Technical Leadership
- Mentor DevOps and platform engineering teams.
- Conduct architecture and design reviews.
- Drive adoption of DevOps best practices across engineering teams.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable cloud solutions.
Requirements
- 6–10 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years in an Architect or Technical Leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (AWS and/or GCP experience is beneficial).
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages including Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and cloud security controls.
- Strong understanding of release management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or Azure Monitor.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- AWS Solutions Architect certification.
- Kubernetes certifications including CKA, CKAD, or CKS.
- Experience driving DORA metrics and engineering performance improvements.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud environments and modern application platforms.
