Role Description The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Silver Spring, MD. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure to support government digital services. Day-to-day activities include managing servers and cloud environments, monitoring system performance, diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues, and ensuring high availability across environments. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer collaborates with security, DevSecOps, and software engineering teams to implement best practices, harden systems, and improve automation. This role also includes documenting infrastructure configurations, contributing to technical standards, mentoring team members, and supporting continuous improvement of operational processes.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong infrastructure and system administration skills, including experience with server management, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
- Candidates should possess troubleshooting and networking skills to diagnose issues, optimize performance, and maintain reliable connectivity across environments.
- Candidates should possess network security knowledge, including securing network segments, implementing firewalls, and applying security controls aligned with government and industry standards.
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with government environments, compliance frameworks (such as FedRAMP or NIST), and secure configuration management is a plus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional technical teams.
- Relevant certifications (such as AWS, Azure, RHCSA, CCNA, or security-focused certifications) and a bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience are preferred.
