Role Description The Cloud Engineer will design, build, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure to support PACE AI’s products and internal systems. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Washington, DC. Day-to-day responsibilities include provisioning and configuring cloud resources, implementing infrastructure as code, and monitoring system performance and reliability. The Cloud Engineer will collaborate with software developers and data teams to deploy applications, optimize environments, and ensure security, scalability, and cost efficiency. The role also involves troubleshooting production issues, automating operational tasks, improving CI/CD pipelines, and contributing to architecture and best practices documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong Software Development skills, with experience in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or similar) for automation and tooling.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure design and management, including infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and configuration management tools.
- Proficiency in Cloud Computing platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP), including core services for compute, storage, networking, and security.
- Practical Linux skills, including system administration, shell scripting, and troubleshooting in production environments.
- Working knowledge of Databases (relational and/or NoSQL), including performance tuning, backups, and integration with cloud-native services.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, security best practices, and identity and access management in cloud environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes) is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, manage priorities, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
