About the Role:
We're seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with deep, hands-on expertise in AWS and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to design, deploy, secure, and maintain cloud-based solutions supporting critical operations. This is a long-term engagement (4-5 years) supporting a major cloud modernization initiative, including a planned migration to Oracle Cloud. You'll work as part of an agile cloud engineering team, collaborating closely with architecture and other technical teams to design and implement solutions across a hybrid AWS/OCI environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of progressive cloud engineering experience in enterprise environments
- Hands-on expertise with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, EKS, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with OCI (Compute, Networking, Object Storage, IAM, OKE, etc.)
- Proven experience supporting mission-critical, high-availability production systems
- Strong background in Linux and Windows server administration
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, security architecture, and hybrid connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect, FastConnect)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred)
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (NERC CIP, SOX, or similar)
Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure Engineering:
- Architect, deploy, and manage scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available infrastructure across AWS and OCI
- Design hybrid cloud connectivity integrating cloud environments with on-premises data centers
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or OCI Resource Manager
- Configure cloud networking components including VPCs, subnets, route tables, VPNs, Transit Gateways, load balancers, and DNS
- Evaluate and recommend cloud services and architectures aligned with the broader technology roadmap
- Lead cloud capacity planning, cost optimization, and resource governance
Cloud Operations & Support
- Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, cost, and security (CloudWatch, OCI Monitoring, Datadog, Splunk)
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, network, and application issues in production
- Manage patching, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance for cloud-hosted systems
- Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions meeting RTO/RPO objectives
- Participate in on-call rotations for production support
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Security & Compliance
- Implement cloud security best practices and enforce IAM frameworks, RBAC, and least-privilege access across AWS and OCI
- Support compliance with regulatory requirements including NERC CIP, SOX, and PCI-DSS where applicable
- Conduct cloud security assessments, vulnerability remediation, and risk mitigation
- Collaborate on cloud governance frameworks, security architecture reviews, and audit readiness
- Implement data encryption, secrets management, and network security controls
Automation & DevOps
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments
- Automate provisioning and configuration management using Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
- Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting to proactively detect anomalies
- Champion DevSecOps practices, embedding security into automated pipelines
- Develop reusable automation frameworks and cloud modules
Documentation & Governance
- Maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, runbooks, and SOPs
- Support internal and external audits with documentation and evidence as needed
- Participate in cloud architecture review boards and long-term roadmap planning
- Mentor junior cloud engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing
