Are you a database professional with expertise in cloud-native database services, infrastructure automation, high availability, and performance optimization?
This role offers the opportunity to support global data platforms, drive database reliability, and partner with engineering teams to build scalable, secure, and highly available database solutions.
As a Cloud Database Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, administration, optimization, security, and operational management of Subway's cloud database infrastructure.
You will work closely with application developers, cloud engineers, architects, and infrastructure teams to ensure database platforms are performant, resilient, secure, and aligned with business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Database Administration
- Provision, configure, and manage cloud database services across Azure and AWS environments.
- Administer Azure SQL Database and other relational and cloud-native database platforms.
- Manage database lifecycle activities including deployment, maintenance, patching, and upgrades.
- Support production and non-production database environments.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery
- Design and implement High Availability (HA) solutions for mission-critical databases.
- Develop and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies and recovery procedures.
- Conduct regular backup validation and disaster recovery testing.
- Ensure business continuity and data protection requirements are met.
Performance Optimization
- Monitor database performance and system health.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in:

Experience
- 5+ years of database administration experience in enterprise environments.
- 8+ years of Windows Server administration experience.
- 3+ years of Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
- 3+ years designing and testing High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- 3+ years of Terraform experience supporting cloud infrastructure.
