Job Summary
The Platform Engineer is a highly skilled cloud expert who plays a vital role in the execution of our Azure-centric cloud strategy. You'll tackle complex cloud deployments, resolve escalated issues, optimize cloud operations, and champion automation initiatives. This role requires in-depth technical proficiency, strategic thinking, and a passion for delivering cutting-edge cloud solutions.
Responsibilities
- Azure Implementation and Support: Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex Azure environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). Serve as an escalation point for the Cloud Services team, resolving challenging technical issues.
- Cloud Architecture Expertise: Contribute to the development and enhancement of our cloud architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business needs.
- Migration and Modernization: Participate in cloud migration projects, ensuring smooth transitions and leveraging cloud-native technologies to optimize migrated workloads.
- Automation and Efficiency: Drive initiatives to automate cloud processes and deployments using tools like Azure Automation, Terraform, PowerShell, or other relevant technologies.
- Cloud Cost Optimization: Analyze cloud spending patterns, identify and implement cost-saving measures, and ensure cost-effective use of Azure services.
- Security Best Practices: Collaborate with security teams to enforce cloud security policies, implement security controls, and proactively address potential vulnerabilities.
- Operational Excellence: Develop and maintain operational processes, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and disaster recovery procedures for our cloud environment.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to knowledge base development, best practice documentation, and mentorship of other cloud team members.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Cloud Engineer with expertise in Microsoft Azure.
- Deep understanding of Azure IaaS (VMs, Networking, Storage), PaaS (App Services, Azure Functions, etc.), and other core Azure services.
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools within the Azure ecosystem (e.g., Azure Automation, Terraform, PowerShell).
- Ability to analyze and optimize cloud costs.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills for troubleshooting complex cloud issues.
- Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer, etc.).
- Experience with cloud security concepts and tools.
