Join our Enterprise Hosting Services team at the forefront of secure, innovative hybrid infrastructure for one of the nation's most critical institutions. We're seeking a talented Platform Engineer to help architect, deploy, and manage our on-premises Virtual Cloud (VMware) platforms and AWS Cloud platforms while supporting emerging AI capabilities, modern containerized workloads, and enterprise virtualization environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain hybrid infrastructure spanning on-premises data centers and AWS GovCloud, ensuring compliance with federal security standards
- Administer and optimize hypervisor clusters (VMware vSphere, ESXi) for enterprise workloads
- Manage Kubernetes fleet operations across on-premises VMware vSphere with Kubernetes (VKS) and AWS EKS
- Lead application modernization initiatives, migrating and optimizing workloads across cloud and on-premises environments
- Implement comprehensive audit logging, monitoring, and observability solutions across hybrid environments
- Support security engineering initiatives, including vulnerability management, compliance automation, and security hardening
- Support emerging AI/ML capabilities and cloud-native solutions
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment using Jira for project management
- Ensure systems meet NIST 800-53 and FISMA compliance requirements
- Automate operational tasks and improve platform reliability across both cloud and on-premises infrastructure
- Contribute to architectural decisions and hybrid cloud strategy
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience supporting enterprise-grade ESXi servers and VMware server software
- Experience designing, planning, testing, implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting large VMware installations
- Expert knowledge of ESXi server implementations and operations, VLAN, VMC, primary and secondary data center operations, and hybrid cloud implementations
- Experience with Aria Automation, Aria Orchestrator, and Aria Operations
- Experience with PowerShell/PowerCLI scripting
- On-premises data center and AWS GovCloud experience
- Kubernetes fleet management experience (VKS, EKS, Mirantis)
- VMware vSphere administration and cluster management
- Knowledge of NIST 800-53 controls and FISMA compliance frameworks
- Experience with security engineering, audit logging, and monitoring tools
- Application modernization and containerization experience
- Experience with AI/ML infrastructure and services
- GitLab and Jira experience
- VMware or Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD)
- Experience in financial services or federal government environments
Salary: $142,166 - $145,355
