Job Summary
The Cloud Software Engineer is a strong advocate for cloud technology and engineering support necessary to drive the organization's next-generation technologies. This intermediate-level role focuses on adopting, expanding, maintaining, and optimizing cloud usage through engineering support, automation, and related technologies.
The role is responsible for supporting and engineering cloud solutions while staying current with new cloud offerings to achieve expected corporate results.
Essential Responsibilities
- Engineer and implement cloud-based technical architectures, migration approaches, deployment of cloud resources, and application optimizations using automation technologies, redundant solutions, and approaches that support business objectives.
- Define cloud resource procurement and performance patterns through monitoring and tracking usage and trends to optimize cloud spend and resource efficiency.
- Propose ideas, designs, and solutions to senior or lead engineers to further cloud service utilization and optimization.
- Develop automation scripts and repeatable patterns to enable application and service teams to deploy software and services into cloud environments.
- Perform research and analysis for new cloud deployment proposals, existing cloud service modifications, and new cloud adoption to provide recommendations on the best course of action.
- Perform Level 2 incident, problem, and change management related to the responsibilities of the cloud operations engineering team.
- Develop documentation to support operations processes, procedures, and implementations.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Cloud Computing, Computer & Information Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
Required:
- 3 years of experience with at least two modern programming languages, such as Java, JavaScript, BASH, or PowerShell.
- Experience providing operational support for at least one cloud service provider in an organization:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Microsoft Azure
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Preferred:
- Experience producing code that is fault-tolerant, efficient, and maintainable.
- Experience designing, building, and deploying scalable cloud-based solution architectures through automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Experience with version control tools such as GitLab or similar tools.
- Experience with standard IT security practices, including identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate management, and key management.
- Knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
Licenses or Certifications
Required:
- GCP, AWS, Azure, or other Cloud Service Certification.
Preferred:
- Terraform, Ansible, or other similar tool certification.
