Overview
Do you love solving hard cloud networking and automation problems, and want to own the infrastructure foundation of an innovative global company with the feel of a startup and an amazing culture? SRAM is seeking a Platform / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to own our cloud network architecture and our infrastructure-as-code foundation. This role sits at the center of everything the platform team runs. You will operate a large multi-account AWS Control Tower organization (40+ accounts), design and evolve the network topology that connects it, and author the Terraform that defines all of it. Everything else the team does, from CI/CD to identity to observability, is built on top of those two pillars. You will join a team of 4, reporting to the IT Director, and help carry forward an active 2026 roadmap centered on network egress centralization and continued IaC maturity, alongside observability and app modernization work.
Responsibilities
- Cloud Networking:
- Own cloud networking end to end: design and evolve multi-account VPC architecture, transit gateway / centralized egress, Route 53, and cross-account connectivity across a 40+ account AWS Control Tower organization
- Lead the network egress centralization initiative on the 2026 roadmap
- Infrastructure as Code:
- Own infrastructure as code end to end: author and maintain Terraform modules from scratch, including module design, state management, and reusable patterns other engineers build on, not just consuming existing modules
- Continue raising the bar on IaC coverage and module quality across the organization
- Platform Governance:
- Extend AWS multi-account governance (Control Tower, Organizations, IAM) across EC2, RDS, ECS, EKS, and Bedrock
- Support the observability buildout and the migration of workloads from EC2 to ECS
- CI/CD and Identity:
- Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including OIDC federation
- Administer Microsoft Entra SSO
- Internal Tooling and Partnership:
- Build, extend, and support internal tooling and services, leveraging AWS Bedrock for inference where applicable
- Partner closely with engineers across teams to turn infrastructure and networking needs into self-service, well-documented tooling
- Who Thrives Here:
- Communicates clearly and generously; writes good docs, explains tradeoffs, and makes teammates' jobs easier
- Gives opinionated, direct guidance but stays genuinely open to pushback
- Shares context proactively and treats knowledge as something to spread, not hoard
- Is patient, reliable, and easy to build trust with over the long haul
Qualifications
- 4+ years in cloud infrastructure / platform engineering, with hands-on ownership of production cloud networking (VPC design, routing, egress, cross-account or cross-VPC connectivity) at scale
- Proven experience authoring and designing Terraform modules from scratch, including module structure, state management, and reuse patterns, not just consuming existing ones
- Production AWS experience, ideally within a multi-account / Control Tower organization
- Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD (including OIDC federation) and Microsoft Entra SSO integration
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Python and Bash, with a bias toward automation over manual toil
- Solid grounding in identity and access management, secrets management, and observability tooling
- A code-first, no-lock-in mindset
- Experience with AWS Bedrock or similar managed inference services preferred
- Experience building with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude) as part of your day-to-day workflow preferred
- Prior EC2-to-ECS migration experience preferred
- Preferred Certifications:
- AWS Certified
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
- Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting salary range: $90,000 up to $125,000, based on skills and experience
- Annual corporate bonus eligibility based on company and individual performance
- Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; life and long-term disability insurance; generous paid time off
