Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Lead to take complete end-to-end ownership of our
AWS-based infrastructure and build the platform engineering function from the ground up.
Today, this role entails leading a lean, agile team with a clear mission: maintaining high runtime
reliability, automating operations, and implementing AI-native infrastructure workflows. As our
organization scales, you will lay the architectural and operational foundation for an expanded
DevOps and SRE organization, balancing hands-on execution today with strategic leadership
for tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities & Ownership Areas
1. End-to-End Infrastructure Architecture
● Architect, deploy, and manage multi-environment cloud infrastructure on AWS using
Terraform and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) best practices.
● Own container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), networking, runtime resilience, and
deployment pipelines across staging and production.
● Drive FinOps initiatives: monitor cloud usage, forecast spending, implement
cost-allocation tags, and optimize compute/storage costs without compromising reliability
or performance.
2. Reliability Engineering & SRE Practices
● Define and implement meaningful Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level
Indicators (SLIs) aligned with customer-facing product experience.
● Establish unified observability across metrics, distributed tracing, and log aggregation to
surface regressions before customers detect them.
● Establish incident command procedures, blameless post-mortems, root cause analysis
(RCA), and sustainable on-call rotations designed to prevent engineer burnout.
● Drive measurable improvements in platform reliability: reduce MTTR, lower incident
frequency, and eliminate repetitive firefighting.
3. Continuous Automation
● Identify recurring manual operational tasks and replace them with reliable automation
across environment provisioning, preview branches, blue/green or canary rollouts, and
automated rollbacks.
● Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines ensuring high developer velocity and
friction-free release cycles.
4. AI-Native Operations & Tooling
● Integrate autonomous and semi-autonomous AI agents into daily infrastructure workflows
rather than treated as experimental prototypes.
● Deploy agents for automated incident triage, root cause analysis, log pattern recognition,
IaC drafting, and automated runbook execution.
● Establish governance, access boundaries, safety guardrails, and audit logging to dictate
what AI agents can execute autonomously versus actions requiring human sign-off.
5. Infrastructure Security & Compliance
● Collaborate closely with Security Engineering to enforce security best practices across
infrastructure boundaries.
● Implement strict AWS IAM least-privilege policies, secret management (AWS KMS,
Secrets Manager/Vault), and vulnerability scanning in CI/CD pipelines.
● Maintain automated OS/AMI patching, container image lifecycle management, and assist
in infrastructure forensic investigations when required.
6. Team Leadership & Roadmap Strategy
● Recruit, mentor, and foster the professional growth of a high-performing DevOps and SRE
team.
● Define the multi-quarter platform roadmap: make disciplined "build vs. buy vs. retire"
technology evaluations aligned with company scale and budget.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Required Experience:
● Experience: 8–10 years of progressive hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or
Platform Engineering, including proven experience leading or mentoring engineers.
● Scale & Scope: Proven track record owning complete production infrastructure for
high-traffic, consumer-facing products subject to substantial traffic spikes and strict
latency constraints.
● Cloud & Tooling: Deep technical mastery of AWS services, Kubernetes (EKS),
Terraform, Docker, and modern CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).
● Observability: Practical expertise building full observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana,
Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or ELK).
● Security Foundations: Solid hands-on background in cloud security controls, VPC
architecture, IAM policies, encryption, and secure pipeline gating.
● AI Integration: Active daily user of agentic development/ops tooling, with tangible
experience deploying automated workflows or agent-assisted tooling in an operational
setting.
● Cost Optimization: Demonstrated track record of auditing and trimming substantial cloud
expenditures while sustaining or improving availability metrics.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
● Experience architecting and scaling GPU compute clusters, scheduling, and hardware
utilization.
● Hands-on operational knowledge of LLM gateways (smart routing, token rate-limiting, cost
attribution, and multi-provider failover).
● Experience operating in highly regulated compliance environments (e.g., RBI digital
lending guidelines, DPDP, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, or ISO 27001).
● Direct experience scaling an early-stage platform team through hypergrowth.
