We are looking for a hands-on Platform & DevOps Lead to own and evolve the engineering platform on which VuNet products are built, released, deployed and operated.
This role brings together our Platform and DevOps capabilities.
VuNet runs across a mixed operating model: customer-managed on-premise environments, private cloud deployments and an increasing SaaS/cloud footprint. The engineering challenge Is therefore not only to operate infrastructure reliably, but to make installation, upgrades, releases and platform operations repeatable across very different environments.
Today, some of this work still requires significant involvement from Platform, CARE and engineering teams. One of the key objectives of this role is to progressively make the platform self-sufficient, automated and supportable so that Customer Success teams, and eventually Qualified implementation partners, can perform standard installations and upgrades without deep Platform involvement.
This is a lead engineering role, not a coordination role.
You will remain hands on, work through difficult production and platform problems, provide technical direction to the team and build stronger engineering capability across Kubernetes, CI/CD, automation, reliability and cloud operations.
As VuNet expands its SaaS and Cloud operations, this role is expected to grow in scope and can evolve into broader Platform leadership.
Are you excited to be a part of VuNet's trailblazing team? Join VuNet and make a difference
Roles & Responsibilities
What You Will Own
Platform Engineering
- Own the Kubernetes-based runtime platform used to deploy VuNet products across on-premise, private cloud and public cloud environments.
- Drive platform architecture, lifecycle management, upgrades, scaling, security, performance and reliability.
- Standardize environments and reduce customer-specific variations wherever possible.
- Build reusable platform capabilities instead of solving the same deployment and operational problems repeatedly.
Customer Installation & Upgrades
- Own the engineering capability for installation, upgrades and platform lifecycle management across customer environments.
- Improve installers, upgrade tooling, environment validation, sizing, pre-flight checks, rollback and troubleshooting mechanisms.
- Move progressively towards self-service installation and upgrades.
- Enable Customer Success and implementation partners to handle standard deployments without requiring Platform engineers for every activity.
- Ensure difficult customer environments feed improvements back into the platform rather than remaining one-off operational fixes.
DevOps & Release Engineering
- Own and evolve CI/CD and release engineering practices across the product.
- Build reliable pipelines for build, test, packaging, deployment and release.
- Drive GitOps, deployment automation and consistent release practices.
- Improve rollback, recovery, zero-downtime deployment and upgrade mechanisms.
- Work closely with Product Engineering and QA to improve release predictability and deployment quality.
Cloud & Infrastructure Automation
- Build reusable cloud infrastructure patterns using Infrastructure as Code.
- Own provisioning and automation across compute, storage, networking, IAM and Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Support VuNet's move towards SaaS and private SaaS operating models.
- Over time, build the operational capability required for Cloud Ops and SaaS Ops.
Reliability & Operations
- Establish strong operational practices for the platform.
- Own monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, infrastructure health and platform-level reliability.
- Lead investigation of complex infrastructure, Kubernetes and deployment issues.
- Drive high-quality RCA and ensure recurring incidents result in engineering improvements.
- Improve resilience, backup, recovery and operational readiness.
Security
- Build security into the platform and deployment lifecycle.
- Own areas including Kubernetes hardening, RBAC, secrets management, container security, image scanning, vulnerability remediation and infrastructure security.
- Work closely with security teams to support BFSI customer and compliance requirements.
Engineering Leadership
- Lead and mentor engineers across Platform and DevOps.
- Create clear primary and secondary ownership across critical platform capabilities.
- Reduce dependencies on individual engineers.
- Develop the team across Kubernetes, cloud, CI/CD, automation, troubleshooting and reliability engineering.
- Set technical direction while remaining close enough to the systems to step into difficult problems when required.
- Work closely with Product Engineering, QA, CARE, Customer Success and implementation teams.
What You Bring
- Strong hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, networking, storage, scheduling, security, upgrades, scaling and troubleshooting.
- Experience operating Kubernetes across on-premise and/or private-cloud environments in addition to managed Cloud Kubernetes.
- Strong experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines for complex containerized products.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform, Pulumi or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of Linux, networking, storage, containers and distributed system fundamentals.
- Production experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Strong scripting or programming skills using Python, Go, Bash or similar.
- Experience with monitoring and observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK or equivalent.
- Experience handling production incidents, RCA, capacity planning and infrastructure reliability.
- Experience supporting installation and upgrades of enterprise software across multiple customer environments.
- Experience leading engineers while remaining technically hands-on.
- High agency: identifies meaningful problems, forms hypotheses, prototypes solutions, validates them against data and drives successful approaches into production without waiting for detailed task definitions.
Certification
- Strong Kubernetes certification is preferred, especially CKA or CKS.
- Cloud DevOps / SysOps certification in AWS or Azure or GCP is strongly preferred.
- Certifications should be backed by meaningful production experience operating these technologies at scale.
Good To Have
- Experience building internal platforms or self-service infrastructure capabilities.
- Experience with Helm, operators, GitOps platforms and Kubernetes lifecycle automation.
- Experience with service meshes, ingress controllers, API gateways and K8S networking.
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.
- Experience with SaaS operations, SRE or cloud operations.
- Experience operating within enterprise security and compliance environments such as ISO 27001, SOC 2 or CIS benchmarks.
- Experience working with implementation partners or enabling third-party teams to deploy enterprise products.
