Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Chef SysAdmin Contractor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Chef and its applications in infrastructure management, as well as experience with various DevOps tools. This role requires a proactive individual who can integrate Chef into the DevOps pipeline effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage infrastructure using Chef, including Cookbook and Recipe development.
- Integrate Chef with other DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
- Utilize Terraform for managing cloud infrastructure as code.
- Administer both Linux and Windows servers, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Apply basic networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Create and manage server images with a focus on automation and lifecycle management.
- Implement configuration management practices to ensure consistency across environments.
- Utilize monitoring tools to ensure the health and performance of Chef Automate and related infrastructure.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience with Chef and related tools.
- Strong knowledge of Terraform and cloud infrastructure management.
- Proficient in Linux and Windows server administration.
- Experience with monitoring and observability practices.
- Familiarity with networking principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications in Chef (e.g., Certified Chef Developer) or Terraform.
- Experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.
