The AWS DevOps Architect is a strategic member of our Professional Services Team. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant infrastructure utilizing AWS services. You will automate infrastructure provisioning using Jenkins, GitHub, and Terraform, which is crucial in bridging the gap between operations and development teams to ensure the seamless delivery and deployment of high-quality applications. This position requires extensive expertise in cloud architecture, CI/CD methodologies, and infrastructure as code, alongside the ability to influence and mentor stakeholders across the organization. We seek a strategic thinker who is hands-on and passionate about advancing best practices in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture and Design: Lead the design of highly available, resilient, and scalable AWS infrastructure solutions, ensuring adherence to best practices in performance, reliability, and security.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the maintenance of applications and infrastructure, employing advanced techniques to optimize configurations and resource utilization.
- Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with development and operations teams to define infrastructure requirements, provide expert guidance on best practices, and drive organizational change and improvements.
- Process Improvement: Spearheaded continuous enhancements in the Change Management process to ensure controlled and efficient deployment of changes.
- CI/CD Development: Architect and manage robust CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, improving application deployment and release management processes.
- Automation of Provisioning: Lead the automation of infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform to ensure consistency and efficiency in deployments.
- Monitoring, Logging, and Performance Tuning: Build and manage monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack. Implement robust logging and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues, and regularly perform performance tuning and resource optimization.
- Security Compliance: Conduct regular security audits and assessments of systems and the underlying infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities and enforce security best practices.
- Deployment Management: Own the deployment process and create detailed deployment artifacts, including Deployment/Installation plans, with the capability to plan for rollbacks.
- Knowledge Management: Document and maintain up-to-date records of infrastructure configurations and changes. Share processes, procedures, and best practices for knowledge sharing.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide comprehensive status updates; effectively communicate project progress and operational metrics to team members and stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Troubleshooting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance software development and deployment processes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Offer technical support and troubleshooting for AWS-related issues.
- Industry Trends: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in DevOps, SRE, and cloud environments, applying this knowledge to enhance team capabilities.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in AWS cloud computing. – Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Architect is preferred.
- AWS Expertise: In-depth knowledge of AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
- Database Knowledge: Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases like PostgreSQL.
- CI/CD Mastery: Proven experience in architecting and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, focusing on scalability and robustness.
- Source Code Management: Advanced understanding of GitHub workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, and collaboration techniques. – Infrastructure as Code: Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform and Helm for infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Containerization Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
- Networking Acumen: Solid understanding of networking concepts, including load balancing and security best practices in cloud environments. – Monitoring Tools: Proficiency with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or the Loki Stack, capable of setting up comprehensive observability solutions.
