Job SummaryWe are seeking a seasoned DevOps professional with strong leadership skills to head our Operations team. The DevOps Operations Team Lead will oversee day-to-day operational activities, ensuring that all incidents and stuck order Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met promptly and efficiently. This role requires extensive collaboration with IT, Network, and Business teams, and involves maintaining documentation, conducting root cause analysis, leading issue resolution meetings, and providing detailed operational reports. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience, including demonstrated experience in leadership roles, and a deep understanding of operating in a 24x7 mission-critical environment. The role is on-site only without flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities· Team Leadership & Management:
o Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Must have demonstratable experience of managing a team of direct reports to achieve outcomes.
o Allocate resources effectively to ensure operational objectives and SLAs are met.
o Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
· Operational Oversight:
o Oversee the monitoring, management, and resolution of incidents to meet SLAs.
o Ensure timely identification and resolution of stuck orders.
o Coordinate and participate in daily stand-up meetings, providing clear direction and priorities.
· Incident Management & Problem Resolution:
o Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent incident recurrence.
o Liaise with Level 3 and 4 support teams as necessary.
o Ensure effective communication during escalations and major incidents.
· Documentation & Process Improvement:
o Maintain and improve documentation for systems, processes, service agreements, and operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
o Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
· Data Analysis & Reporting:
o Provide in-depth analysis, generate reports, and offer insights on operational performance, system metrics, and improvement initiatives.
o Utilize advanced Excel skills and data analytics tools to handle large data sets.
· Strategic Collaboration:
o Collaborate with IT, Network, and Business stakeholders to align operational activities with business objectives.
o Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the development of long-term operational strategies.
· Technical Expertise & Support:
o Provide technical guidance on MySQL, Oracle, Linux, Python, and PHP.
o Oversee the use of cloud-based infrastructures such as AWS or Azure, and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
o Promote best practices in DevOps methodologies and tools.
· Operational Readiness & Availability:
o Ensure systems are highly available and meet the demands of customer-facing products.
o Be flexible with working hours, providing leadership support during major incidents or events.
Qualifications· Education:
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
· Experience:
o Minimum of 7 years of experience in DevOps or IT operations roles, with at least 2 years in a people management or team lead position.
o Proven experience in a 24x7 operations environment supporting mission-critical systems for external customers.
o Experience supporting highly available and high-demand customer-facing systems and products.
· Technical Skills:
o Expertise in MySQL and Oracle database management.
o Strong Linux administration skills.
o Advanced programming and scripting abilities in Python and PHP.
o Proven experience with data analytics and reporting tools.
o Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
o Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
o Familiarity with Dynatrace, ELK Stack, and generating reports using large data sets.
o Experience with Confluence and Jira.
