Job Title: DevOps/SRE Engineer
Location: Washington, DC/Hybrid
- Deployment & Automation: Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning utilizing Infrastructure-as- Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Monitoring & Observability: Develop dashboards and alerts using AppDynamics, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, or similar tools to ensure systems meet SLOs.
- Incident Support: Participate in on-call rotations, triage incidents, and assist in postmortem reviews to identify and remediate root causes.
- Documentation & Readiness: Maintain clear documentation on systems, runbooks, deployment processes, and escalation procedures.
- Security & Reliability: Assist with secrets management, scanning tools (e.g., AWS ECR, Checkmarx, Github Advanced Security, Synk), and contribute to security gates in pipelines.
- Collaboration: Work with application developers, infrastructure engineers, and security teams to deploy and maintain production- ready services.
Knowledge of databases:
- Knowledge of different database types, such as relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL
- Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB), along with their strengths and weaknesses. Familiarity with data modeling techniques to design & optimize database structures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 2+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure support roles.
- Experience with one or more cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Understands core cloud services (e.g., S3, EFS, Kinesis) and basic troubleshooting techniques
- Proficiency with Linux-based systems and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with IaC (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible) and version control (Git).
- Basic understanding of monitoring and alerting systems.
- Willingness to participate in incident response and service ownership.
- Strong desire to learn and grow in automation, observability, andSRE practices.
