Job Description:

The Senior Software Configuration/Release Engineer designs, automates, and maintains cloud configuration, release, and infrastructure management processes across GTA’s AWS environments. This role ensures secure, compliant, highly available cloud platforms using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and strong governance, while supporting reliable statewide services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain AWS configuration management standards and automation.

• Build and manage Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform across Dev, Test, Stage, and Prod environments.

• Support CI/CD and release automation using AWS CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline.

• Implement and manage automated backup, patching, and compliance processes.

• Manage SSL/TLS certificates, ensuring secure and compliant configurations.

• Conduct configuration, security, and compliance audits; implement improvements.

• Maintain documentation and provide guidance on AWS, Terraform, and cloud best practices.

• Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

• 8+ years of configuration management experience.

• Strong expertise in Terraform, AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM), cloud backups, patching, and certificate management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).

• AWS and/or Terraform certifications.

• Experience in government environments, vendor oversight, Agile/project management, or organizational change management.

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and collaborative.

• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, highly regulated environments.

Skills:

• The engineer will work closely with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to support stable, reliable statewide services.

• Build, deploy, and enhance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management

• Support automation pipelines using the AWS Code Suite: CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline

• Design and maintain automated AWS Backup, Patching solutions to ensure data integrity, resiliency, and compliance with state retention policies.

• Manage installation, renewal, rotation, and validation of SSL/TLS certificates across AWS services.

• Maintain detailed, accurate documentation of configuration baselines, IaC standards, module usage, and environment changes.

• Provide training and guidance to team members on Terraform, AWS infrastructure best practices, backup strategies, patch automation, and certificate
