The Sr Cloud Engineer supports the AWS cloud infrastructure for a Federal project at Halvik. This role is responsible for maintaining secure, compliant, multi-account AWS environments and ensuring reliable operation of Lambda-based backend services and API Gateway integrations. The position operates within a federally regulated environment and supports security, compliance, and Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain AWS infrastructure across four environments: development, test, staging, and production
- Support backend services using AWS Lambda and API Gateway for Salesforce integrations
- Build and maintain scalable solutions and integrating AI capabilities across business functions
- Maintain and enhance multiple AWS Lambda functions supporting critical system workflows
- Monitor and perform Python runtime upgrades
- Deploy Lambda updates through a controlled pull request and approval process
- Troubleshoot performance, timeout, and failure conditions
- Update Lambda layers, dependencies, and runtime configurations
- Implement and improve error handling, logging, and retry mechanisms
- Monitor system health using CloudWatch logs and metrics and resolve operational issues
- Manage AWS resources including S3, RDS PostgreSQL, SQS, SNS, and VPC networking components
- Configure and maintain security groups, routing, and access controls
- Maintain and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform
- Document infrastructure architecture, standards, and design decisions
Required Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline with 10 years of experience.
- 7+ Years of experience developing and maintaining AWS Services
- Expert-level experience with AWS services, including:
- AWS Bedrock
- AWS Lambda
- API Gateway (REST APIs, authentication, throttling)
- S3, RDS PostgreSQL, SQS, SNS
- CloudWatch, IAM, GuardDuty
- VPC networking and security groups
Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, including state managementProficiency with Git and GitHub EnterpriseStrong proficiency in Python for AWS Lambda developmentExperience with boto3 (AWS SDK for Python)Experience using AWS CLI for operational tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- SQL for complex data analysis and reporting
- Experience with PostgreSQL (including stored procedures, query optimization, and troubleshooting)
- ETL pipeline design and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Windows command-line scripting
