The Azure Senior Data Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, building, and governing scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms on Microsoft Azure. This role provides technical leadership, defines cloud data architecture standards, and works closely with business, engineering, and DevOps teams to deliver enterprise-grade data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and architect end-to-end data solutions on Microsoft Azure for large-scale enterprise environments.
- Define cloud data architecture patterns, standards, and best practices.
- Lead the design and implementation of data platforms using Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL.
- Architect real-time and batch data processing solutions.
- Ensure data security, governance, compliance, and cost optimization across Azure environments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers and cloud teams.
- Work closely with DevOps teams to enable CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automation.
- Support data migration initiatives from on-premises or other cloud platforms to Azure.
- Review and approve solution designs, code, and pull requests to ensure quality and alignment with architecture standards.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with Azure cloud innovations and recommend adoption where appropriate.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure data services and cloud architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB, Dremio, Grafana
- Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake architectures.
- Experience with real-time streaming technologies such as Azure Event Hubs and Azure Stream Analytics.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, identity management, networking, and governance.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, or Terraform).
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Solid understanding of DevOps and DataOps practices & Networking concepts
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead architecture discussions and influence technical decisions.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or cloud solutions.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing data solutions on Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise or global environments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Data Engineer Associate are preferred.
