Focus of the Role
Network Software Engineering Specialist will be working on the design, development and deployment in network specific technology domains, including developing platform specific technology roadmaps and making technology investment recommendations to deliver products and infrastructure to defined service level standards.

How the role contributes to business strategy?
Effectively and efficiently support a diverse set of technical projects with specific outcomes via programs of work in Technology delivery as well as expert input and recommendation with regards to future looking technical projects.
The measurable deliverables and outcomes of this role will be the design and delivery of quality Engineering solutions for Telstra's Strategic Inventory and autonomous network.
Key Accountabilities:
- Design and develop APIs and interfaces to connect internal models/applications with external systems (northbound/southbound).
- Lead the migration from legacy interfaces to strategic, modern APIs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure interfaces are secure, scalable, and meet performance standards.
- Document interface specifications, integration patterns, and operational procedures.
- Support deployment and integration activities in development, staging, and production environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues.
- Stay current with industry standards (e.g., TMF APIs) and best practices for interface design.
Key Activities for this role:
- API and interface design (REST, gRPC, etc.)
- Developing transition and migration plans for legacy systems
- Building and maintaining integration adapters/middleware
- Identifying and managing dependencies with upstream and downstream systems
- Coordinating with multiple teams to ensure successful interface adoption
- Writing and maintaining technical documentation
- Participating in code reviews and architecture discussions.
Essential Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming language like Python.
- Experience with REST/gRPC APIs, event-driven systems, and messaging platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Experience with integration frameworks and middleware
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization standards (OAuth, JWT, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with version control (Git)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, BitBucket
- Advanced oral and written communication skills that can adapt to different teams, individuals, and personality types as well as able to author, review and evaluate technical and non-technical documentation.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering/ Computer Science / Information Technology / Telecommunications.
Highly desirable skills:
- Experience in Camunda platform.
- gRPC event triggered automation development.
- Experience developing network centric tools and systems
- Scripting skills in Python or other programming language.
