ABOUT THE ROLE
You will own our hybrid infrastructure end-to-end — cloud (AWS today, with the freedom to use Azure or GCP where it fits) plus on-premises bank systems where regulated deployments require it. You will design architectures, automate installs, build CI/CD pipelines, manage Kubernetes deployments and keep the platform highly available for enterprise clients.
We want a DevOps engineer who is cloud-agnostic at the fundamentals — pick up any cloud or on-premise environment, reason from first principles, and build the same level of automation and reliability everywhere. AWS depth is useful, but the role is bigger than one provider.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Design infrastructure architectures — reason about cloud vs on-prem trade-offs, pick the right primitives, and document the choices (AWS today; Azure / GCP / on-prem where the client demands it).
• Automate installs end-to-end — stand up a new environment (cloud or on-prem) from scratch with automation only. No manual steps that can't be re-run.
• Build infrastructure as code — Terraform modules for AWS, Azure, GCP and hybrid (on-prem + cloud).
• Run CI/CD — build and maintain pipelines on Jenkins and Azure Pipelines for build, test and release.
• Manage Kubernetes deployments — GitOps with ArgoCD on EKS; package and ship with Helm; containerisation with Docker.
• Own the AWS footprint — EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, Lambda, EKS — provisioning, IAM, networking (subnets, load balancers, firewalls), and connectivity to on-prem banking systems.
• Harden security — IAM, security groups, KMS, secrets management via Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.
• Set up observability — CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana and the ELK stack, with alerting that catches incidents before customers do.
• Be on call — participate in rotation, lead root-cause analysis, close the loop on follow-ups.
• Plan for the worst — backup & restore drills, disaster recovery, capacity planning.
WHAT YOU BRING
• 3–5 years of hands-on DevOps, ideally in fintech, banking or another regulated SaaS environment.
• Cloud-agnostic fundamentals — deep experience on at least one major cloud (AWS preferred: EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, EKS), with basics solid enough to pick up Azure or GCP without losing speed. You can also work in on-premises environments — physical/virtual servers, bare-metal Kubernetes, customer-managed infrastructure.
• Solid networking fundamentals — VPC, subnets, routing, load balancers, firewalls — strong enough to debug across cloud, on-prem and hybrid.
• Hands-on with Jenkins and Azure Pipelines for CI/CD.
• Proficient with Docker and Kubernetes (deployments, services, ConfigMaps); working knowledge of Helm and ArgoCD (or genuine willingness to ramp up fast).
• Understanding of infrastructure-as-code; Terraform experience is a strong plus.
• Comfortable with Bash and at least one of Python or Go for real automation.
• Linux/Unix administration; Git and a config-management tool (Ansible, Chef or Puppet).
• Calm under pressure — you have been on a real production incident bridge and brought it home.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.
WHAT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE
• Fintech or banking domain experience.
• Terraform certification or strong production Terraform background.
• Serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, API Gateway).
• Observability tooling — Datadog, New Relic, advanced Prometheus.
• Compliance standards (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
• AWS / Kubernetes certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, CKA, Terraform Associate).
