Job Description
About the Role:
We are looking for a Architect of Platform Engineering to lead the team responsible for building and operating the foundational systems that power the MyComplianceOffice platform.
The team owns the platforms and services that every engineer depends on, including OCI/Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, platform security, observability, automated testing infrastructure, and the container images and deployment mechanisms that allow software to move safely and reliably from local development to production.
You will lead MCO’s Platform Engineering team end-to-end: defining the multi-year platform strategy, securing investment, owning delivery and operational excellence, growing and developing the team (including hiring), and partnering closely with Operations, Security, Architecture, and teams driving AI adoption across the company to support the continued evolution of the engineering organization.
The platform sits at the heart of how software is built and operated at MCO and must support the reliability, security, and auditability requirements expected by some of the world’s largest financial institutions.
Your goal is simple: provide a secure, reliable, scalable, and cost-effective engineering platform that enables product teams to build, test, deploy, and operate software with confidence and speed.
This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the VP of Engineering. You will lead a small team of senior engineers while remaining actively involved in architecture, technical direction, critical platform decisions, and the successful delivery of key initiatives.
Job Requirements
What You Will Do:
This is our highest individual contributor engineering track. We are looking for someone who wants to solve the company’s hardest technical problems through architecture, implementation, and technical leadership
The Platform Engineering team is responsible for the reliability, security, scalability, performance, cost efficiency, and operational health of the platforms and services that engineering teams depend on every day. Success means providing the foundations that allow engineers to build, test, deploy, and operate software safely, consistently, and efficiently across all environments without unnecessary friction.
A major part of the role will be modernizing and evolving MCO’s platform capabilities across infrastructure, software delivery, observability, security, automation, and developer experience. This includes establishing platform standards, engineering practices, and architectural principles that improve productivity while reducing operational risk, complexity, and cost, as well as continuously evaluating technologies and approaches that improve engineering effectiveness and help the platform scale with the business.
The role requires close partnership with Engineering, Architecture, Security, Operations, and AI teams to align platform investments with company priorities and future technical direction. Ownership extends to key platform technology decisions, vendor relationships, infrastructure investments, and capacity planning, ensuring the platform remains fit for purpose and able to support the company as it continues to grow. While this is a leadership role, active involvement in architecture, technical reviews, incident management, and critical platform decisions will remain an important part of the job.
Job Responsibilities
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a technically strong engineering leader with deep hands-on experience across Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, security, and software delivery. You have spent years building and operating production systems at
scale and have developed strong instincts around reliability, security, scalability, automation, observability, and cost optimization. You’re comfortable moving between technical strategy, architecture discussions, operational challenges, and hands-on problem solving when required, and know how to balance engineering quality with business outcomes.
Beyond technical expertise, you have experience leading engineers, building high-performing teams, and delivering large-scale initiatives that span multiple stakeholders and engineering domains. You know how to create clarity, set direction, and establish the right level of process without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. Most importantly, you enjoy building platforms and capabilities that enable other engineers to do their best work.
Ideally, you have spent at least a few years working in a product company, startup, or scale-up environment where engineering speed, ownership, and business outcomes matter as much as technical excellence. Experience with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, modern CI/CD platforms, infrastructure automation, and platform security is expected. Exposure to Java-based enterprise environments, Oracle technologies, OCI, regulated industries, or AI-enabled engineering practices would be beneficial, but is not required.
Ultimately, we are looking for somebody who can modernize and scale our engineering platform, raise the level of engineering effectiveness across the organization, and build a team that enables product engineers to move faster with confidence.
Job Benefits
Why Join MCO:
MCO builds software used by some of the world’s largest financial institutions to manage compliance, conduct risk, employee conflicts, surveillance, and regulatory obligations.
As Principal Engineer of Platform Engineering, you will be responsible for one of the most important capabilities in the company: the platform that every engineering team relies upon to build, test, secure, deploy, and operate software.
You will have the opportunity to shape the future of engineering at MCO, influence technology decisions across the organisation, and build the foundations that enable our products and teams to scale for years to come.
Success in this role means creating a platform that allows engineers to deliver software faster, more safely, more reliably, and at lower cost.
