Position Summary
The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. This role requires advanced expertise in Infrastructure as Code, multi-account and cross-subscription architecture, enterprise cloud governance, automation, monitoring, security, and cost optimization. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and solutions-oriented professional who can support complex cloud environments while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Monitor cloud system performance, availability, security, and compliance using cloud-native and third-party monitoring platforms.
- Design and implement multi-account and cross-subscription architectures, landing zones, and enterprise governance frameworks using AWS Organizations and Azure Management Groups.
- Lead infrastructure provisioning, automation, and configuration management initiatives using Infrastructure as Code tools, including Terraform.
- Partner with application teams to develop and implement backup, disaster recovery, high-availability, and failover strategies that support business continuity.
- Review and optimize cloud resources, configurations, and policies to align with security, governance, performance, and cost-management best practices.
- Architect and maintain identity and access management frameworks, including IAM roles, access-control models, Azure Active Directory/Entra ID, and related cloud identity services.
- Collaborate with developers, network engineers, cybersecurity professionals, IT administrators, and other stakeholders to support enterprise cloud initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance for the migration of on-premises applications, systems, and infrastructure to AWS and Azure.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for cloud architecture, administration, operations, troubleshooting, and service-related inquiries.
- Participate in cloud capacity planning, performance tuning, cost management, and resource optimization initiatives.
- Maintain detailed documentation related to cloud architecture, configurations, operational procedures, standards, and governance requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with established cloud governance policies, including resource tagging, cost management, access controls, and configuration standards.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud governance strategies.
- Coordinate cloud-related activities with other technology and business teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design technical solutions that address business and operational requirements.
- Research emerging cloud technologies, industry trends, and vendor capabilities to identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
- Approach complex technical challenges with curiosity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to delivering effective solutions.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Six to eight years of relevant information technology or cloud infrastructure experience.
- Four to six years of hands-on AWS and/or Microsoft Azure administration experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and managing enterprise AWS and Azure environments.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.
- Experience with multi-account, cross-subscription, landing-zone, and enterprise cloud governance architectures.
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Experience with cloud-native monitoring platforms and/or third-party tools such as Datadog.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, networking, compliance, and cost-optimization principles.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and application issues.
- Ability to coordinate technical resources, develop solutions, and escalate ongoing issues when necessary.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and take ownership of technical initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining current knowledge of emerging cloud technologies and industry best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
- Additional certifications related to cloud security, DevOps, networking, or Infrastructure as Code.
