Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Cloud / DevOps Engineer to support a high-profile federal program in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing secure Azure cloud infrastructure, networking, and DevOps solutions within government cloud environments.
This role requires expertise in Azure networking, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, hybrid cloud connectivity, and secure cloud migration. Candidates must possess an active Secret Clearance and have experience working within Azure Commercial and Azure Government (IL5/IL6) environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure and networking solutions.
- Manage Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), Subnets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, Load Balancers, Route Tables, ExpressRoute, and VPN connectivity.
- Configure and optimize hybrid connectivity between Azure and on-premises environments.
- Manage replication traffic over ExpressRoute and VPN connections while ensuring secure network isolation using VNets.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact (POC) for Azure networking and cloud infrastructure issues.
- Support secure infrastructure across Azure Commercial and Azure Government (IL5/IL6) cloud environments.
- Build and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools including Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
- Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and Ansible to streamline provisioning, configuration management, patching, and system administration.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices for cloud deployments.
- Monitor Azure infrastructure using Azure Monitor and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD).
- Collaborate with engineering and security teams to support cloud migrations and infrastructure modernization.
- Ensure cloud environments meet federal security and compliance standards.
- Document architecture diagrams, network designs, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of overall IT infrastructure or cloud engineering experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on Azure Cloud engineering experience.
- Strong expertise in Azure Networking including:
- Virtual Networks (VNets)
- Network Security Groups (NSGs)
- Azure Firewall
- Load Balancers
- Route Tables
- ExpressRoute
- VPN Gateway
- Experience supporting Azure Commercial and Azure Government (IL5/IL6) environments.
- Strong experience with:
- Terraform
- Bicep
- ARM Templates
- Azure DevOps
- GitHub Actions
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps automation.
- Advanced scripting experience using PowerShell and/or Ansible.
- Experience with Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and Azure Monitor.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipeline implementation and secure deployment practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure cloud database platforms.
- Experience using Microsoft Visio for architecture and network documentation.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Prior experience supporting Federal Government or DoD programs.
- Experience with secure cloud migration and hybrid cloud architecture.
