We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the operation, automation, and modernization of AWS and hybrid-cloud infrastructure supporting federal systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to deepen their expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, networking, and security while working alongside senior engineers on mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain AWS infrastructure including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, load balancing, and DNS services.
- Implement infrastructure changes using Infrastructure-as-Code and established cloud architecture standards.
- Maintain and enhance Terraform and CloudFormation deployments.
- Monitor cloud environments and troubleshoot performance, availability, configuration, and security issues.
- Support vulnerability remediation, patching, compliance, and security hardening initiatives.
- Develop scripts and automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Assist with cloud migrations, modernization projects, and disaster recovery activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to implement cloud, networking, security, and automation best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience supporting cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or related technologies.
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and Systems Manager.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, or similar automation tools.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, subnets, firewalls, and security groups.
- Knowledge of infrastructure security concepts including least privilege, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with technical teams.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills
- AWS, Azure, or other cloud-related certifications.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and cloud automation best practices.
- Exposure to CIS Benchmarks, STIGs, or similar security frameworks.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud or federal environments.
- Strong interest in cloud architecture, DevOps, automation, and infrastructure engineering.
