We are seeking a Technical Architect eCommerce to oversee and guide the architectural direction of our entire eCommerce landscape. As the Technical Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance, and innovative solutions across a complex, multi-team environment. You will work closely with all the eCommerce domains, each focusing on different components of the eCommerce platform, to ensure seamless integration and system harmony.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of modern eCommerce ecosystems, SAAS products, cloud infrastructure, microservices architecture and DevOps practices. You will serve as the technical leader within eCommerce, driving consistency, technical quality, and scalability across the platform and supporting the domain’s tech leads with their personal development.

Job description
· Define and maintain the architectural vision for the entire e-commerce platform, ensuring alignment with vidaXL’s vision and business goals.
· “Own” the complete e-commerce landscape (Pricing & BI, product content, webshops, B2B, order management and customer service).
· Define strategical choice between buying and own build, and make trade offs between requirement, quality, stability, and implementation cost & speed.
· Lead the design and development of the e-commerce platform, ensuring that it is scalable, secure, performant and available.
· Work closely with the development teams to ensure that the various platforms within the domain are being built using best practices and adhere to (enterprise) architectural principles.
· Collaborate with Lead Product Owner, business owners and sponsors to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements.
· Being part of vidaXL’s portfolio management in which you play a key role in challenging technical proposed solutions and ensuring we are delivering the technical agreed solutions, in a timely matter.
· Assess current vendors against our future roadmap and initiate changes if needed.
· Drive technical, architectural, and functional discussions, challenging and guiding both business and developers to build solutions that fit our needs and achieve our long terms business objective.
· Define system integration architectures and work with partner system integrators and design patterns, approaches, and guidelines, adhering to compliance standards.
· Support integrating third-party systems, like CRM, PIM, OMS, or ERP data in e-commerce platforms using middleware, native APIs, or API gateways.
· Stay abreast with new technologies and share new ideas and techniques that are relevant to the e-commerce space.
· Create an approachable environment for the team members to ask questions and escalate issues; define milestone commitments and mentor junior team members.
· Support the team in planning data migration and system go-live activities addressing technical issues and challenges.
· Determine software solutions and perform POCs as needed.
· Implement load testing standards to troubleshoot performance problems.
· Fix performance, scalability, and other issues in a very time-critical environment.
Skills and Experience
· 10+ years of total experience in software development, design and architecture
· 5+ years of experience in developing e-commerce solutions and applications.
· 5+ years of experience in a similar architecture role.
· 5+ years of experience in any commercial e-commerce tool like SFCC, Magento, Shopify, BigCommerce, etc.
· Architect certification in any e-commerce tool is desirable.
· Proven hands-on implementation experience in large, complex, multi-domain, and multisite e-commerce projects.
· Experience with tools like Salesforce Commerce cloud, Salesforce Marketing cloud, Mulesoft, Zendesk, Salsify, RabitMQ ESB.
· Good knowledge of UI technologies and omnichannel e-commerce platforms.
· Strong knowledge of e-commerce functionalities like product and catalog management, pricing, promotions, loyalty, inventory management, order fulfillment, warranties, return management, payments, supply chain, etc.
· Sound knowledge of cloud infrastructure in a popular platform, like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
· Communication Skills: excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
· Problem-Solving: demonstrated ability to analyze complex business problems and find timely quick and permanent solutions.
· Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire development teams in adopting best practices and high-quality standards.
· Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to change while keeping the helicopter overview over the e-commerce landscape.
· Expertise in application lifecycle methodologies (like agile project and engineering processes, MVP).
· Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD implementation.
· Comfortable in conducting workshops.
· Hands-on experience in agile development methodology.
· A self-starter and quick learner with an ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
