As the Director of Engineering - DevOps, you will lead and mentor the DevOps team, ensuring the smooth design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, while driving cloud infrastructure development and operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance automation, scalability, and efficiency, setting best practices for monitoring, logging, and alerting systems across the infrastructure. In this leadership role, you will oversee resource allocation, manage budgets, and ensure security and compliance standards are met. Your efforts will champion the adoption of a DevOps culture across engineering teams and align initiatives with product roadmaps and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the DevOps team in the design, implementation, and management of CI/CD pipelines.
- Oversee the development and operation of cloud infrastructure and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Establish best practices for monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure system reliability.
- Champion the DevOps culture across engineering teams, promoting best practices and process improvements.
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines for DevOps initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements across the infrastructure.
- Lead incident response efforts to maintain system availability and resolve technical issues.
- Collaborate with product management to ensure DevOps strategies align with product roadmaps.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
- Develop and maintain documentation for processes, procedures, and infrastructure.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, and performance management for the DevOps team.
- Contribute to the overall engineering leadership and strategic direction.
- Identify and lead initiatives for continuous improvement within engineering processes.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to ensure alignment between DevOps strategies and broader business goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience within DevOps or infrastructure engineering teams.
- Expertise in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Deep understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and scripting.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- In-depth understanding of security best practices and compliance standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change toward DevOps practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Experience in budgeting, resource management, and project oversight.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
