Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Cloud FinOps Analyst to join our team in providing essential financial and operational support to federal government agencies as they navigate their cloud computing and cost optimization initiatives. As a Cloud FinOps Analyst focused on the federal sector, you will play a pivotal role in helping government organizations optimize their cloud spending, ensure compliance, and drive efficiency in their cloud operations. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud services, financial analysis, and a commitment to upholding federal regulations and standards.
Job Responsibilities
· Cloud Financial Analysis:
o Perform comprehensive analysis of cloud usage and spending to identify cost-saving opportunities, trends, and anomalies. Collaborate with government stakeholders to create budgets, forecasts, and financial reports that align with federal guidelines.
· Government Compliance:
o Stay current with federal regulations, policies, and security standards related to cloud services. Ensure that cloud operations meet all relevant compliance requirements and contribute to compliance audits as needed.
· Cost Optimization:
o Develop and implement strategies for optimizing cloud spending, such as rightsizing instances, leveraging reserved instances, and recommending appropriate pricing models to minimize costs while maintaining performance.
· Budget Management:
o Assist government agencies in establishing and managing cloud budgets, providing regular updates, and identifying areas for cost containment.
· Vendor and Service Management:
o Evaluate cloud service providers, negotiate contracts, and monitor service quality and performance to ensure adherence to government standards.
· Resource Allocation:
o Work closely with government clients to allocate resources effectively, ensuring that cloud infrastructure meets the agencies' needs while avoiding over-provisioning.
· Cost Transparency:
o Facilitate transparency in cloud spending by establishing cost allocation models, tagging strategies, and implementing cost management tools.
· Reporting and Communication:
o Generate regular reports and presentations for government stakeholders, highlighting key financial and operational insights, recommendations, and progress toward cost optimization goals.
· Cloud Education and Training:
o Provide training and guidance to government employees on cloud financial best practices and FinOps methodologies.
Required Skill/Qualifications
· 12 years + of experience in cloud financial operations, cloud cost optimization, or financial analysis in a federal government context.
· In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), their pricing models, and services.
· Familiarity with federal government regulations and compliance standards, including FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST.
· Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, including proficiency with financial modeling and budget management.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse stakeholders within government agencies.
· Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus.
· Familiarity with cloud cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management) is an advantage.
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
