Centurion Consulting Group is looking for a REMOTE Senior Cloud Operations Engineer (AWS) for one of our clients.
Our growing Cloud Operations team is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer that will help drive our cloud infrastructure services to new heights.
- We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer with a primary focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join our dynamic and innovative Cloud Operations team.
- The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud architecture and services, demonstrate leadership capabilities, and have a proven track record of designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure.
- Autonomous Work: Work independently with a high degree of autonomy, taking initiative to identify and address opportunities for improvement and innovation in our cloud infrastructure.
- Mentorship & Coaching: Mentor and coach other Engineers on the team, as needed, providing guidance, support and knowledge sharing to help them develop their skills and advance their careers.
- Observability & Reliability: Oversee the implementation and management of observability solutions using the LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) and Prometheus. Ensure systems are monitored effectively and that reliability engineering principles are applied.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Implement monitoring, automation, and optimization techniques to ensure the health and performance of cloud systems.
- Networking & Security: Guide the design and management of networking solutions, including VPCs, subnets, and security groups, ensuring secure and efficient communication within the cloud environment.
- Cloud Architecture and Design: Design and develop scalable, high-performance, and secure cloud architectures leveraging AWS services.
- Implementation and Deployment: Oversee and execute the implementation and deployment of cloud solutions, ensuring best practices and high standards are met.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure cloud solutions adhere to security and compliance standards and practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including developers, operations, and business leaders, to understand requirements and deliver effective cloud solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging AWS technologies and industry trends and continuously seek opportunities to improve existing systems and processes.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Documentation & Communication: Create and maintain detailed documentation for system design, processes, and best practices. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in IT with a strong focus on cloud computing, including 2+ years of experience specifically with AWS. 1-3 years of experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and/or RDS PostgreSQL.
- Certifications: AWS Certified Solution Architect – Associate or similar advanced AWS certifications.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, and others. Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, Terraform, etc.
- Security: Deep understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Observability Tools: Expertise with the LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) and Prometheus, with a focus on building and maintaining effective observability and monitoring solutions.
- Reliability Engineering: Strong knowledge of reliability engineering practices, including high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and drive technical excellence within a team.
- Autonomous Work: Ability to work independently, taking initiative and ownership of complex projects and challenges.
- Networking & Security: In-depth knowledge of networking concepts and security best practices in a cloud environment.
- Version Control: Proficiency with Git/GitLab for version control and collaboration.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts both technical and non-technical audiences.
- CI/CD Experience: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools to support automation and deployment.
- Containerization: experience with Docker and Kubernetes, in addition to EKS, for managing containerized applications.
- IAC: Infrastructure as Code leveraging Terraform
- DevOps Experience: Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and tools such as CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Git, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Multi-Cloud Knowledge: Experience with other cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.
- Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
- Innovation: demonstrated ability to innovate and drive technology advancements within an organization.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Masters’s degree is a plus.
