Title: DevOps Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid)
Duration: 4-month contract with full-time conversion
Must-Have Skills
- 3 years DevOps experience, 5 years IT experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake and AWS
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
- DevOps tools: Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Chef
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
- Ability to set up monitoring and alerting systems
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with RDBMS like oracle or SQL Server
- Familiarity with data engineering pipeline workflows, ELT Pipeline
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in cruise, travel, or hospitality industry
- Exposure to cloud security and compliance best practices
- Azure and OCI experience
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams to optimize Snowflake and AWS infrastructure
- Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and Ansible
- Manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker
- Set up and fine-tune monitoring and alerting systems
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Demonstrate technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration for full-time conversion
Role Context
- Majority of work is with the data engineering team
- ~30% involvement with CRM and marketing tech
- Reports to Ravi, collaborates with Solutions Architect
- Fast-paced, demanding environment requiring multitasking and prioritization
- Agile methodology
Technical Scope
- Focus areas: Snowflake, Oracle, CI/CD
- Responsibilities include:
- Supporting deployments
- Managing Snowflake access and automation
- Setting up version control
- Monitoring data pipelines and creating alerts
- Snowflake user management, data shares, schemas
- AWS infrastructure: Kubernetes, Lambdas, MSK, Kafka
- Data streaming into Snowflake via MSK
- Custom CI/CD scripting (no standard tools in use)
- Azure and Jenkins exposure
Interview Process
- First round with two architects
- Second round with managers
- Final round with Ravi
Candidate Criteria
Avoid candidates who:
- Focus too heavily on infrastructure
- Lack real-world DevOps experience
- Cannot speak to practical use cases
