Selected Intern's Day-to-day Responsibilities Include
- Core Infrastructure & Operations:
- Provisioning AWS Resources: Creating, configuring, and managing EC2 instances. They will likely start by doing this manually through the AWS Management Console and progress to writing basic scripts.
- Linux Server Administration: Spending significant time in the terminal—connecting to remote servers via SSH, navigating directories, managing file permissions, checking system resources, and installing necessary software packages.
- Deploying Applications: Taking small applications or services and successfully getting them running on their cloud instances.
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:
- Debugging Systems: Actively investigating when a server goes down or a deployment fails. They will be expected to dig into system logs, find the root cause of the break, and apply a fix.
- AI-Assisted Engineering: Leveraging tools like ChatGPT or Claude to write bash scripts, decode confusing error messages, or research best practices for AWS configurations to speed up their workflow.
- Communication & Learning:
- Executing the Curriculum: Completing specific guided projects or modules designed by the senior managed infra team, rather than aimlessly exploring the cloud console.
- Technical Documentation: Writing clear, concise summaries of what they built, documenting why a system broke and how they fixed it, or drafting internal guides. The strict "vague = disqualified" rule means they will be expected to communicate their technical roadblocks and solutions precisely.
