The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and services to ensure scalability, security, and efficiency. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external vendors to support business objectives and maintain high-performance cloud environments.
Leadership:
- Foster technical and procedural excellence within the IT department for all applicable production systems and processes
- Foster technical knowledge, design, and engineering excellence within the IT department
- Ensure systemic problems, sensitive customer situations, or unresolved customer Requests are escalated and distributed to IT management in a timely manner
- Recommend implementation standards
Customer and System Support:
- Keep IT management apprised of critical issues
- Identify, correlate, escalate, and manage Problems
- Ensure local Service Delivery approach, processes, and procedures are aligned with organizational standards
- Collaborate with End User Services to ensure requests, incidents, and problems are handled in a timely manner and customer service expectations are met
Design, Engineering, and Innovation:
- Facilitate the acquisition and integration of new technology into the environment
- Identify and recommend new technology value to the organization
- Research technical concepts and educate other team members as needed
- Present research / proposed projects to IT management
Monitoring & Optimization:
- Recommend improvements to systems and IT support process
- Recommend implementation standards
- Define implementation standards
Documentation & Knowledge Management:
- Develop quality documentation of technical processes and procedures
- Document all ticket and project work
- Ensure documentation is sufficient to yield reproducible results
- Identify and recommend changes with existing documentation that impacts customer support
Project Delivery:
- Track and complete assigned IT projects
- Complete tasks in a timely and quality fashion
- Adhere to implementation, quality control, and change control standards
- Keep IT management apprised of risks to project success
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and supporting AWS cloud environments
- Strong working knowledge of core AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, ELB/ALB/NLB, CloudWatch
- Experience building and managing highly available, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure
- Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Solid understanding of cloud networking (subnets, routing, NAT, VPNs, security groups, NACLs)
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows system administration in cloud environments.
